What We're Looking For:
ISSUE #2: IN THE MARGINS:
Hasty confessions, annotations, and crossed-out lines still legible. Afterthoughts that overwrite their predecessors, dreams lingering in your wake. Contradictions left in footnotes, private notes passed between hands, and rearview truths closer than they appear. All language on the verge of something; any piece with truths kept to the periphery. Pages you rip just to put back together and admit something to yourself in half hope, half defeat.

Flat Ink welcomes any and all commentary on the craft of writing or culture within media, whether that means a comparison between two authors you love, your own experiences with inspiration, thoughts on writing technique, or any form of personal experiences with the culture around writing. Feminist, POC, & other similar types of analysis are enouraged, whether that be analysis of the writing community, specific media & writers, or on an element of craft. We also strongly encourage longform personal narratives.
For prose & poetry, we're looking for gentle discoveries and secret hauntings, anything with a tinge of bittersweet.
Before you submit, make sure your work is properly formatted. Work should be 1.5 or double spaced, with a standard legible font around 11 or 12 pt. Poetry can be single spaced. Multiple submissions should be in individual files.
Please do not send sexually explicit work, we have minors reading.
For essay pitches, please send in a short paragraph detailing your potential piece and its ideas, alongside a relevant writing sample or any draft you may have. Feel free to provide a bio as well. Please address your submission: Pitch, Lastname, Firstname
